 This is a charming and unusual vintage French sewing stand. It is made from wood and was made to store large reels of thread. It would be a useful addition to any serious sewing room and would make a stunning shop display stand.

It stands on a heavy circular base out of which 8 wooden spindles protrude to take the large cotton reels. Within the circle made by the spindles is a central column which has a further whorl of 4 spindles and at the top of which is a pink velour pin cushion. The spindles would also take smaller more modern cotton reels if required.

The stand would also look fabulous laden with bangles and the top would be superb for hat pins.

I have left it as i found it but it would polish up with wax or could be painted. It is in good sturdy condition.

The stand measures 34.5 cm (13.5 inches) high x 17.5 cm (7 inches) diameter.
