Product no.: BF312

This is a  divine antique French spectacle case dating from the 1800's. It would also be perfect for pens or as a case for pieces of jewellery.

It is made from black lacquered papier- mâché. On the lid it is beautifully decorated with pieces of irridescent abalone shell in glittering shades of pink, purple, green and turquoise. A border of this runs around the edge and there is a central diamond and star design.

Inside, the case is lined with sumptuous cotton velvet in a deep and sublime shade of purple. This is in good condition with the merest bit of wear to one edge.

The lid is opened by pushing a little button on the front. The hinges are in good order and the case closes with a pleasing snap.

The case measures 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) long x 4 cm (1.5 inches) deep x 2 cm (0.75 inches) high.

It would take a slim pair of modern glasses but would be superb as a presentation case for a piece of treasured jewellery.

Another superb château chic find from La Broçante Francaise!
