This is a divine, good quality, antique French spelter figurine of a chubby child at study and dates from the Napoleon III era 1852 - 1870. It is an authentic piece and would add charm to any period French display.

The child sits at study on a decorative plinth. He is as nature intended save for a swathe of fabric draped around his hips and over his arm. His chubby legs are bare and his podgy feet are crossed. He holds a book in one hand, which he studies pensively, his head rests on the other. Another book awaits his attention.

He is cast in beautiful detail. His facial features are clear and he has a fabulous head of hair. His cute little fingers and toes can be seen in stunning detail.

The spelter figurine stands on an ebonised base and has good weight. All is in good condition with one small casting hole on the back.

It measures :- 12cm (4.75 inches) high x 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) wide x 8 cm (3.25 inches) deep.
