This is a wonderful hand-coloured engraving from the 19th Century French magazine ‘L’Iris - Journal des Dames’ .

The fashion plate is entitled 'Modes de Etéand shows examples of 2 flamboyant  outfits of the time.

This is plate No 33 and is dated 15 Juin 1833.

This plate measures approx. 23 cm x 14.75 cm (9” x 53/4”).

 We will be listing a number of similar plates from various French publications from the early to mid-1800’s featuring the fashion of the time (clothing, hats & hairstyles) for both women & men.

The plates are a marvellous authentic record of the fashions of the mid 19th Century but are also charming pieces of art in their own right.

They would be perfect to frame or to use in a fashion project or just to collect.
